5 Tips For Getting Your Work Done While When You Have Kids At Home

This is definitely one of the questions I get asked most frequently. Getting things done, and staying focused when you’ve got kids climbing all over you and demanding your attention every 37 seconds can be VERY tough. Over the last 5 years I’ve tried a LOT of different things. Here’s 5 of my favorite tricks.

I thought of quite a few more ideas after I shot this video, so more suggestions will be coming… but I’d like to hear from YOU! What tricks work for you to help you get your work done, and keep your kids happy? These are really great tips Jackie. People used to ask me this all the time as well and it always used to surprise me that they couldn’t figure it out. It seemed so simple to me. I’ve done everything you mentioned in the video and what really stuck out for me was not only setting ground rules but sticking to them. Don’t buckle when your kid is having a meltdown. When my kids see me working, they know I’m working and not to bother me unless it’s life or death and when I’m with them…I’m with them. Awesome video, thanks for sharing.

    Hey Jackie!

I really loved your tips! This is great info that I will tuck away for the future. My son is only 17 months old so most of my work is done during his naps and bed time. I look forward to that transition period when he is a little older and can understand this concept of working from home. In the meantime, I’m enjoying every moment with him!

      Hi Alicia!

Glad the tips gave you some ideas. I’d definitely recommend you start talking to your son NOW about mommy working, and start setting ground rules now!! He’s definitely not too young. If you start now it will just be part of how his world is! If you wait til he’s older it will be harder because it will be something totally new to learn… I wish I’d started that young with Hanna. 🙂
