How I Tripled My Blog Traffic In Less Than 30 Days

There’s this big room, in a secret cave where all the successful bloggers go to hang out. We talk about all our secrets and the secret strategies we use to get all the traffic we could ever need. Then we laugh maniacally because we hold all the cards and can create traffic on demand.

Sometimes seems that way huh? Especially when you’re just starting out, and trying to gain traction.

I’ll tell you this right now…

There’s no secret cave. There’s no secret successful bloggers society. There’s no secret.

triple blog traffic

You want to know how I was able to triple my traffic in less than 30 days… even when you can tell by the image in this post I HAD NOT been growing my traffic very well for YEARS…

Here it is.

The big secret.

Focus.

I know… you’re feeling disappointed. You thought I was really going to share some big secret trick with you. (even though I already told you there was no secret lol).

The secret is focus.

For years, literally years, I ran around in circles, trying this, trying that, a little of this here, a little of that there. THAT is the problem… that is what held me back all those years from really exploding my traffic.

I did a little of a lot, but never followed through on a complete strategy for any length of time… thus never giving any one strategy the ability to work its magic.

There are a MILLION ways to get traffic online.

They all work.

BUT… none of them work when you only take little bits and pieces of the strategy and throw it in a pot with little bits and pieces of 16 other strategies, mix them all together, add a little chicken stock… that is a recipe for disaster.

It’s time to start thinking in terms of a marketing strategy, instead of “ways to drive traffic”. When you think in terms of ways to drive traffic you end up thinking you need a million different things you can do every day to bring traffic to your site. That just isn’t the case. As you can see on the left hand side of the page… the “ways to drive traffic” mentality I had for years never really grew my blog. It got some traffic, but never really blew things up.

But… when I got serious about having a “marketing strategy”. BOOM. In less than 30 days, my traffic tripled.

Now… what is a traffic strategy?

A traffic strategy is a plan. With specific steps. It’s not just a “tactic” but an actual plan. I like to keep my plan to 3 daily action steps. Because I don’t get overwhelmed when I know I have to take these 3 action steps daily. I can do it… and what’s even better… I know when I’m done.

There were years where I sat in front of my computer for 10 hours a day, doing stuff… never feeling like I’d been productive enough, or done enough during the day to break through and drive the traffic and sales that I wanted. Now… I know the 3 steps to blog success, and within step number 2 (which is marketing daily) I know the 3 exact steps to take in my marketing strategy. When I get done with the steps… I’m done with the work. I can actually get up from my computer and go live my life, have fun with no guilt. Because I KNOW I did what I needed to do, and I know the things I did will create results.

So, if you want to triple your traffic before March… how do you get started?

1. You make a decision.

You decide on 2 marketing strategies… now keep in mind there are often times multiple strategies wrapped up in one platform… like FB for instance.. you can’t just say I’m going to use Facebook. Because then you may end up using bits and pieces from multiple facebook marketing strategies and still end up with a big pot of nothing. Be clear exactly what strategy you’re going to use.

If you’re looking at facebook are you going to do the Profile connecting strategy? The Fanpage connecting strategy? The Messaging Strategy? The FB PPC strategy? You see… there are multiple marketing strategies on this one platform and you need to be clear which one you’re going to follow.

2. Make another decision.

Once you’ve made a decision on what marketing strategy you’re going to use, you MUST (and this is crucial) you must decide to ignore all other methods. This includes free training, free webinar, the “oh it only takes a second to put my link there” urges. You must ignore everything that is not your chosen strategy.

It is this fear that you’re missing something, or that what you’re doing isn’t going to work, or you’re not going to do it right, that is stopping you from tripling your traffic.

3. TRUST.

This is key. You must have some blind faith that the strategy you’ve chosen is going to work. It will work. If other people are doing this strategy then you’ve already got proof it works… you just have to take the steps to make it work for you.

4. Identify your action steps.

Get clear. What 3 things do you need to do daily to make this strategy work? Yesterday I outlined the 3 action steps for the facebook fanpage strategy. You’d think it was a lot more complicated, but it’s really not. The nice thing is that there’s also some flexibility for you to choose the way YOU like to work, within the strategy. There is flexibility within the strategy for you to be you and do things in a way that feels good for you. Because, let’s face it. If you dread doing your daily action tasks you’re just not going to do it. Oh… you may be able to force yourself through them for a day or two, but it will never be something you stick with long term… which is what makes a marketing strategy work.

5. Be consistent.

No matter what… you’ve got to be consistent. You’ve got to do your daily action steps, daily. If you lack consistency of action, your amazing clarity will not matter a lick.

So there you have it… that’s all I did. There was no magic involved. I got very clear. Chose 2 marketing strategies to focus on. Identified the 3 steps I needed to take daily to make them work. I did them. Consistently. Over the month… and still continue to do them.

Get clear. Take Action!
