I may have been a little late to the Kid President party. I think the first Kid President video I saw was the Pep Talk from Kid President.
I immediately fell in love with it… but kind of went on my merry way. I didn’t realize he had so many videos, or had such a following. I’d see his videos around here or there, on Facebook. I’d watch. I’d feel good. I’d carry on.
Until one day I was working on this project. I was sharing “stories”. As much as I love Kid President, his regular videos didn’t really fit the “story” mold I was looking for… but I really wanted to share him with others. I went hunting through his youtube channel and low and behold I found… The Story of Kid President. 🙂 (amazing how that works out huh?).
It was then I realized just how amazing, and powerful this kiddo is.
His life could have been completely different. He’s got a debilitating disease. “He breaks easy”… and he could have let that stand in his way, he could have allowed that to turn him into a bitter little boy. Instead… he decided to dance.
He decided to bring more awesome into the world.
He decided to make people smile.
He decided to give people a reason to dance.
He decided to change the world.
He did it simply by having fun, and shining his light into the world. People are looking for the light folks. It’s pretty clear to see how much his message has resonated with people. Just look at how many times his videos have been viewed. How many times his videos have been shared.
Just look at what happens when he needs to go in and have surgery to repair another broken bone.
Over 4000 likes, over 500 comments, and over 300 shares. In an HOUR!
People asking how they can send him cards, how they can lift him up, how they can give back just a little bit of the joy he’s brought into their lives.
That’s the stuff that matters. It isn’t about getting 10 leads today, because when you get 10 leads a day you’ll get 1 sale every 3 days, and make a gajillion dollars over night while you’re sleeping.
It’s about how you feel… and how you make others feel in this journey toward freedom we’re all on.
Believe me… I love money. I’m in no way saying we shouldn’t be making scads and scads of money… but what if we flipped things on its head and decided to do it in a way that felt good? Made people dance? What if you built your business in a way where if you had to have surgery 500 people would be asking “where can I send a card?”
Maybe it’s time to start asking questions that move us in that direction.
