So another Easter has come and gone. Last year was the first year we dyed Easter eggs. It was hilarious. My insanely (almost OCD) toddler who can’t have anything on her fingers flipped out every time a little dye spilled or she got some on her fingers.
Those days are gone! She plopped eggs in the color bowls, rolled them around with her fingers and was covered in dye by the time we got done.
I had boiled 2 dozen eggs. I thought that would be enough. Dang, 5 minutes later we were done with the eggs and she’s asking “what’s next?”. Well I got this brilliant idea to grab some pasta out of the cabinet. It’s this weird random pasta that looks like small tubes. (It must have been called for in a recipe I never made). So out comes the pasta and in it goes. Well this pasta dyes quite nicely!!
So now we have some great “beads” for necklaces, braceletes or anything else we can imagine. The trick was getting her to leave them alone long enough to dry lol.
The next day I went out to get some compost and Hanna and her Dad created these great necklaces from with the pasta. Hanna is still learning how to put things away when she’s done, but like her father she tends to just drop them where she finishes. She dropped the necklaces on the floor (after trying to make the dog wear them) and the dog got his revenge. He chomped on the necklace and ate quite a few pieces of pasta ~ but they were saved.
They just used shoe strings we had around the house. (actually they came off “Quakers” we got in Branson last summer that finally “broke”) So they were nice bright green shoelaces and worked a charm.
Easter went well. We had good food, good company and a lovely time. Hanna loves her Easter dress, and in fact, is wearing it again today. It was the only thing she was willing to put on. lol. She was spoiled with the candy by her grandma. She doesn’t get a lot of sugar around here but she was wound for sound on Sunday. She actually crashed so hard she fell asleep in my arms listening to John Mayer at 6:30p. (and yes she slept right through to the morning)
I love how she’s learning to share. Here she is sitting on the floor in her Easter dress sharing her popcorn with her “peeps” you know her “best friends”. 🙂 OK so maybe you can tell this post was basically to show off my little one 🙂 I just can’t believe how big she’s getting!!
