Spit Paint
September 5th, 2009
Yes, it’s as gross as it sounds.
Yesterday we were driving back from Wichita, my mom was with us. Hanna was in the back seat being relatively quiet, but I heard these quiet spitting sounds.
I have a HUGE issue with spitting. I think it’s disgusting. We’ve been going round and round about spitting lately ~ as Hanna has decided it’s super fun to spit. GROSS.
So anyway ~ I hear these small spitting sounds and I’m like what the heck is she doing back there. So I asked her. She exclaims ~
It’s SPIT PAINT!!
I look back and see she is covered from head to toe with spit ~ her hair is wet with spit. She is spitting in her hand, and then painting her entire body with spit.
DISGUSTING!!!!
I begin telling her how spit paint is pretty close to spitting and we don’t spit ~ yada yada yada . . .
In the middle of my very calm lecture about spitting she exlaims at the top of her lungs
But MOOOOOM… spit paint is GRRRREAAAAT!!! (imagine tony the tiger yelling great and that’s what she did)
At this point ~ I can’t even contain myself any more. I burst out laughing. I mean really ~ what kind of imagination does it take to come up with spit paint, and then be so overwhelmingly ecstatic about it???
I had to give the kid some credit. I never in a million years would have thought up spit paint.
My second thought ~ after I wiped the tears from my face was
SCHOOL!! she had to have learned this from school ~ and jokingly wondered what the hell I had gotten myself into.

May 24th, 2009
What you have to know about our “family” before I tell you this story is my husband and I love to fish, but we are TERRIBLE at it! lol. We fish and fish and fish and very rarely catch anything ~ which is why we really haven’t even gone in years.
For Hanna’s birthday my mom got her a fishing pole of her very own, so she was excited to go fishing.
We went to the pond of a neighbor farmer today, and the first cast Ryan (the husband) threw out, he caught a nice sized bass.
That’s a GOOD sign.
We proceeded to catch a nice catfish, and another small bass ~ that Hanna reeled in. Then as she was reeling in for the last time a nice little perch jumped on her hook, so she reeled that one in on her own pole.
What a fun fun afternoon ~ minus the gnats that were eating us alive. Here’s Hanna and her first catches ~ maybe she’s gonna change our fishing luck from here on out ~ wouldn’t that be great?

When a Back Ache Ain’t Really About Furniture
April 4th, 2009
Things have been very crazy over the last week. We went out of town, there was a blizzard while we were gone. The power was off when we got back. The furnace got fried by accident when we hooked up the generator ~ also fried a TV, the booster on the TV antennae, and a clock.
We brought back a sectional and while moving a bunch of furniture I “pulled my back”. I may have mentioned this in my last post. My back was killing me Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wednesday afternoon I have my appointment with my amazing personal growth coach and EFT superstar Lynne. I just gave up control and let her guide me where I needed to go. We got into some pretty DEEP and emotional family stuff for me. We ended up tapping on a bunch of the family stuff and when I sat up again my back pain was completely gone.
It proved to me in very clear terms that pain is not always pain ~ and a back ache is not always about furniture. Now that I am aware of the issues that caused the back pain I was experiencing it is much easier to tap on the pain if it happens to flare up again. Which it has when faced with the situation/issues that caused it in the first place. However, it has been fleeting and short lived.
I “knew” in my head there is a mind/body connection, but this is the first very experiential experience I’ve had with it. It is really clear to me now that pain, and discomfort are really just the expression of inner pain. When you address the inner pain, the outer pain has no reason for being, and simple goes away.
I can’t recommend getting a great EFT coach enough. My life and relationships have been totally SAVED with the help of mine. If you don’t know where to start looking you can always give Lynne a buzz.
Filed under Joy | Comment (0)How Did She Learn to Say THAT???
February 24th, 2009
I’ve been noticing some very grown up things coming out of my two year old’s mouth.
Here are a few of my favorites.
“I don’t think so mom” ~ when asked to do something she really doesn’t want to do
I was just singing the Dragon Tales song playing around (dragon tales is on right now) and she looked at me, tilted her head and said “songs over mom”.
OH, and BTW ~ when did I become MOM?
Let’s see . . .
Oh, last night we went to yoga so it was a little late when we finished dinner. I was checking some email before I put her to bed and she came up to me and said ~ “it’s night time. It’s time to go to bed” Holy WHAT??
Is this my kid? The one for the first two and a half years of life refused to go to bed by herself or even think about sleeping through the night? Well ~ I’ll take that one!
Then while we’re in the car and I’m singing a song on the radio she says “NO ~ let me sing it” (which is really kinda rude) and then she DOES! She loves Pink’s song Rock Star. Quite funny.
Since we’ve been working out a little more regularly she now yells “I want to exercise!!” “I want to make my body strong!!” and when she sees me get the Wii Fit dvd out she yells “Time to Wii Fit??” and gets her yoga mat out (which is her psuedo balance board).
I just don’t know where the time has gone.
Recently she has started yelling ~ whenever we are finished with something and it’s time to go home “I can’t go home” and she seems to mean it. She gets pretty upset.
Yesterday we pulled in to Yoga and a friend was parked in front of us. She yelled “that’s Ella’s car!!” Now how did she remember this?? I only mentioned it once last week when we parked behind them.
The other day we were at the women’s fair. There was a booth selling very cute mugs for kids. They didn’t have her name on a mug (at least not spelled the way we spell it). My mom and I were talking and all the sudden she picked up the Hannah mug and yelled “Hanna”!! NO WAY!! My mom and I just looked at each other and shook our heads. Maybe some of this teaching we’re doing is sinking in.
I’m sure this post has bored you all to tears. But I really wanted some kind or record of all the cool things she’s doing now and I can’t seem to keep a baby book to save my life, so it’s landing here instead.
I’d love to hear the cool things YOUR kids have said that surprised you. Please feel free to share in the comments.
Filed under Joy | Comment (1)Managing the Mind Numbing Tasks
February 13th, 2009
In internet marketing there are some tasks that HAVE to be done, but they are completely mind numbing!! They are tedious and repetitive and I hate doing them, however, they are imperative to the success of my business.
It occured to me today while I was in the middle of one of these mind numbing activities that I could use this time to listen to some of the yummy stuff gathering dust on my hard drive. You know all those audio bonuses people give you all the time.
I was not really in the mood today for marketing stuff, so I went to itunes and started snooping around in the podcast section. Most of the podcast channels are free to listen to and you can find podcasts on just about any subject you can imagine.
I just started working with this amazing EFT practitioner this week. I am really enjoying using EFT on a daily basis, so I found a couple interesting EFT podcasts, which led me to some LOA podcasts, which led me to some meditation podcasts, which led me to some positive affirmation podcasts, which led me to Oprah’s Spirit channel podcast. I subscribed to them all so I can find them again. I find the whole itunes thing very confusing lol.
Holy Moly!! I’m already done with my mind numbing tasks for the day and I still have tons of podcasts I want to listen to!! I guess I will not dread the mind numbing tasks quite so much next time.
In fact, I may even find myself looking forward to them.
They say your business will only grow as much as you do. Why not take some time during the mind numbing activities to grow yourself??
Filed under Joy | Comment (1)Got the Christmas Blues?
December 18th, 2008
It seems every year as the days get shorter, the sun shines a little less, and the snow comes in I get a little bit down.
This year things are tight financially, with new businessess both offline and on. I see myself falling into the old pattern of Christmas blues. It’s frustrating to be blue at Christmas, if you haven’t heard “It’s the happiest time of the year!!”. Not only am I feeling a little blue, I’m feeling guilty for not being festive and happy during the happiest time of the year. lol.
Not many people know this about me, as I can put on a happy face with the best of them. However, yesterday I was thinking about the law of attraction, and how this is really an easily solved “problem” just by changing my focus, and my thoughts.
Seems I have this thought every year lol.
So yesterday I decided to do more things that make me feel good, and welcomed any and all suggestions from the Universe.
As they say, “ask and it’s given”. I have found so many wonderful things this morning. I don’t feel like I’m getting much work done, but I think that is perception as well. I thought I’d share some of my cool finds with you today so in case some of you are having the holiday blues maybe one will make you feel good too.
Now remember I’m a work at home mom, so sometimes the things that make me happy are kinda strange.
TwitThat Am I the last person on Earth to have heard of this? What fun, now whenever I see something cool online I can tweet it right then and there.
Free Banner/Header Creator Thanks to my very dear friend @MaryKW I finally found a very easy and free banner creator. It also does headers and even those cool peelaway ads. I’m so excited to work on some banners for LearnItStepbyStep.com, that will be fun.
Shelfari.com A whole social network for people who love books. OMG. No WAY!! I can’t wait to see who I meet there. I’ll be setting up my bookshelf today.
(wow the weight is lifting as I type, and it feels so good)
Daily Messages From God via Neale Donald Walsch It is amazing how just what you need to hear shows up just as you need to hear it. Here’s today’s message:
On this day of your life, Jackie, I believe God wants you to know…
…that there are choirs singing in your head. If you listen,
you will hear the music. It is the song of angels.
Pay no attention to the sounds of the world. They are
just noises, and even when added up all together they
have no value, make no sense. Strain to hear the song
of angels. Listen to the melody within your soul.
This message is a metaphor. You know exactly what
it is trying to tell you.
Peppered Oil Recipe This year is a “homemade” kinda Christmas. I have done some mosaics for people, and this peppered oil recipe looks perfect for my mom who loves to cook. If I get it on today, it should be ready just in time for Christmas!
A gentle kick in the but I needed Sometimes a story or a poem or just words from another are all it takes to remind you what you DO have. That’s what the law of attraction is all about anyway right? Focusing on what you want or have instead of what you don’t.
Well I have to give a huge shout out to the Universe for pointing me in the right direction and @mariebeausoleil for posting the words i needed to hear. Thank you.
Funny how social networking can seem like a crazy thing ~ meeting all these people online, my husband is always telling me, “You don’t know these people, you don’t know who they are.” I beg to differ. I think it is pretty easy to see who people are, and through this Christmas season I have found more support through my social network online than any social “network” I have in “real” life.
So to all of you out there thank you. Have a merry Christmas, and may your heart be filled with joy. If it is your intention, there can be no other way.
I’m sure today will bring many more exciting things so I may be back to add to the list.
