Fitness Friday is Back ~ I’m Back on Track
February 27th, 2009
As you have all heard extensively this week I finally got a Wii Fit. YAY. So this week I have been working out/playing games whatever you want to call it.
I have yet to create a “routine” as-it-were, but I have gotten on every day. My goal is to do 20 minutes. I usually get my 20 minutes in first ~ well more like 3rd thing in the morning. Right behind Hanna’s breakfast and email. I do a bunch of cardio, and then I do some strength training ~ whether it’s the strength moves or yoga and of course I’ve been playing the balance games.
I have always thought of exercise as something very serious, and definitely NOT fun. So Wii Fit is seriously challenging some all of my beliefs around fitness and exercising. I am sure I am still taking it way too seriously but one step at a time.
I have been taking my body test every day and was on a good downward roll the first 4 days, losing a little weight every day, then somehow gained 2 pounds on day 5. I had a crazy day that day and didn’t end up working out until late in the day and I had different clothes on than usual ~ so I just don’t know.
Today I had lost some again, but not all that I had gained yesterday. hmm. It was still a lot of fun.
With anything I think that my diet is going to be an important part of this equation. I am finding hershey kisses to be my downfall these days ~ I have no idea why I bought that big ass bag on sale for 50% off. I think once I can get back into some healthy eating habits this will take off.
For this fitness Friday I’m feeling proud I have been consistent every day this week. I’ve lost a little (which is always good) and I’m having a blast. Have most of the balance games unlocked now, and really working on unlocking faster rythm boxing (and I’ve been told to be careful what you wish for lol). All in all it’s been a great week fitness wise and I’m looking forward to another next week.
Thanks for coming back! I love return visitors. Feel free to leave a comment I love to hear from you. If you aren't already why not follow me on twitter? Filed under fitness friday | Comments (3)Fitness Friday ~ kinda not so much

Here it is Fitness Friday ~ again. This week has not been to great for my fitness journey. I have been eating ok including this ROCKING Morroccon Chicken Stew I made in the crock pot this week. However, the moving has been poor I must admit.
I have fallen off the wagon when it comes to exercise. I haven’t gotten even one of my workouts done this week, which is really disappointing considering they only take 15 minutes a day.
I’m still on the hunt for a Wii Fit, although truthfully, I’m not sure how much more motivated I’m going to be to turn that on either ~ although I do still have fun doing the boxing on Wii and haven’t played as much as I could I’m sure.
It is so weird, how this consistency is so tied in with balance. I never really realized it before. It seems if I really focus on the fitness and living healthy I manage to stick to it, but as soon as I get distracted and start to really focus on business or parenting I loose my footing in the fitness area. (and almost always focus on something else ends up with many dishes in my sink).
Not sure how to find the balance and the focus to keep consistent with ALL of it. DANG.
Any hints or suggestions welcome. I’m going to try to get back on track this week. I’ll let you know how it goes. Maybe I”ll find a Wii Fit in stock somewhere! Until then I will just keep doing what I can, making the best choice I can in the moment I am in. It’s really all we can do, right?

I have broken the cardinal “no video games” rule and we bought a Wii this week. It was quite a journey trying to find one. We thought this far after Christmas they’d be pretty easy to find ~ boy were we wrong.
It all started this Christmas when Ryan’s son brought his Wii over and we played a little bit ~ take that back, he and Ryan played a lot and everyone else watched. It looked really fun. As much as I love my husband we don’t have a lot of “activity” type things in common. This looked like something we could do together and have some family fun together.
It was about that time I found the Wii Fit group of women having a rockin’ good time getting fit and losing weight with their Wii Fits. That kind of cinched it. I am working hard to lose weight and get fit and really wanted a Wii Fit ~ but ya gotta have a Wii for the Wii Fit to work lol.
So we finally, with a lot of effort, tracked down a Wii on Wednesday. We ran home hooked it up and played for a while. We played a couple games of Boxing, and a few games of Tennis and bowling. It was a lot of fun, and I was TIRED and winded after the boxing games.
Before I went to bed I tweeted that I had been playing boxing and thought I might be sore the next day. Here’s the reply I recieved from @ifamous
And she was NOT kidding. My arms and back were killing me yesterday. I did stick to my Fit Yummy Mummy workout schedule and did my strength training session yesterday.
Last night, I don’t know what I was thinking, I said to my husband, “Hey, let’s play a couple rounds of boxing!” Well that was probably the dumbest thing I’ve done in a while. I could barely move the blankets around to get comfortable last night my arms and back were so sore.
I am still looking for the Wii Fit to be in stock somewhere, and I have to say ~ I used to mock people who talked about getting fit and losing weight with the Wii. I mean come on! it’s a video game!!
I take it ALL back!! I take it all back. I am pretty sure if you play hard and keep doing it consistently you probably can get in better shape ~ especially if you’re like me and sit at a desk and don’t get much physical exercise in your life.
What I think really does it is it’s fun. I mean really, as sore as I was last night I NEVER would have thought of “working out” on top of it. But I did want to kick my hubby’s ass at boxing. (which I did NOT ~ I think he practices after I go to bed!)
All in all this has been a great week fitness wise ~ I have stuck to my supportive eating quite well. I used 2 of my 3 “cheat meals” this week. I did all of my scheduled workouts ~ even though I was sore, drank more water than I usually do and took a little “me” time every day. I’m half way through The Hour I First Believed.
I have lost what looks like 2 pounds so far this week. I don’t really have much faith in scales as at times this week it has said I’ve lost 4 pounds and some times it says none.
But I’ll take 2 today.
I’m still on the lookout for a Wii Fit so I can get started with that too, hopefully it will help me get consistent with my Yoga practice I’ve been trying to get started with for the last few years!!

January 9th, 2009
Here it is, the beginning of the year and everyone is setting “resolutions”. Of course one of the main ones everyone sets is to lose weight. I mentioned I don’t really do resolutions but I do have my theme of consistency this year. I am hoping for consistency in ALL areas of my life, and that includes getting in shape and being fit. So I thought Fitness Fridays here at Wahm Life might help me in that area.
A while back I got a copy of Fit Yummy Mummy. It’s a complete system for busy moms to lose weight and get fit. It’s a great plan and thus far I have had a terrible time getting motivated. Holly ~ the author of the book, has set up a great community called Club Fit Yummy Mummy. In this community, she has just launched a 12 week transformation challenge. I joined the challenge and I’m STILL having trouble getting motivated!! Today is the last day to officially start the challenge. I have set up my profile and officially entered, but I guess today is the day I have to GET STARTED!!
I went to the zoo with Hanna yesterday, we had planned to meet up a friend of ours with a little girl only 6 weeks older than Hanna. These two have been growing up together. We randomly met another of my friends with 3 kids out front while we were gathering ourselves to go in.
She and I used to work out and do Body for Life together BK (before kids). We talked through the day about working out, and getting in shape. She’s decided to train for a 5k coming up in March. I was talking to her about my lack of motivation in getting started.
The cool thing about Fit Yummy Mummy is it is only 15 MINUTES of working out a day (or you can do 30 minutes 3 days a week ~ the point is 90 MINUTES of working out a week!!) I’m was getting so frustrated with myself for not being able to get my ass up and work out for FIFTEEN MINUTES!!
She mentioned if I could just get started she bets it would be much easier to keep going. I tend to agree. I said, I just wish I had someone who would be like “UH, have you got up off your ass and worked out today?”. She said, well I set up a new peer trainer group, if you want I can do that for you. I think it would be great and we both have had consistency issues when it comes to peer trainer.
It’s so interesting about fitness. I really want to be fitter, stronger, and of course thinner, and yet I find it nearly impossible to get motivated to DO what needs to be done to do it. What’s that about?
Well I count yesterday, I dragged a wagon filled with kids all around the zoo. We were two of the last people there and it was closing time. We’d been talking about working out so we got all the kids in the wagon or in a stroller and FAST walked all the way back to the entrance of the zoo. We were at the back. We were winded pretty quickly but we kept going.
Gotta tell ya, I’m pretty sore today! But that’s a good thing. If you are thinking about starting a fitness program I highly suggest Fit Yummy Mummy, it’s a great plan, normal eating, and short workouts. The results have been phenomenal for the people who consistently have stuck to the program. It’s very motivating really. I think it’s that whole “a body in motion” thing, I just have to get in motion.
Well it wouldn’t be a day at the zoo if we didn’t take pictures!! I was really proud of Hanna. She’s always been a clingon kid, and yesterday she was running around out and about with all the other kids. She actually climbed the big rock to get on the Lion statue. She has always refused to even try it. We’re getting there.
“Hanna Queen of Sheba” She’s the smallest kid of the bunch and has all three other kids dragging her around in the wagon. Waving like a beauty queen. Crazy kid!
Silly kids. We had such fun. There are statues all over the park, and the kids had to get their pictures taken at every one. It was great because Hanna usually yells NO when I try that, but with a little instigation from the older kids she was all over it.
First time she’s been willing to get on the “horse” too. It was a good day at the zoo. She also fed the sheep, which is unheard of as well. In this picture she is yelling “Yee Haw” !
And here she is on the lion, Waving like a beauty queen! Where’d she learn that?!?
Ok, well it’s time to get my act together, get motivated and work out!! If you stop by Club Fit Yummy Mummy make sure you add me as a friend ~ I’m momtohanna there too. You have to have a copy of Fit Yummy Mummy if you want to join the challenge. If you do decide to join the challenge let me know, maybe we can be motivational buddies!
PS. I did it ~ I got started. Just finished my first Quick Burst Cardio workout. WOO HOO Go me!!
