Healthy Easter Basket Ideas

Healthy Easter Basket Ideas

We’re a family who tries to eat healthy, whole food. When holidays come around it is sometimes a challenge to stick to our values, especially when the holiday centers around 1 pound solid chocolate Easter bunnies. However, this year, I had some healthy Easter basket ideas. They’re  a little outside the box, but I think they’ll go over big. Lose the “basket” and the green plastic grass. This year I decided to move away from the regular basket, with candy and junk and put together a “basket” that will last for the whole season, will teach lessons, and help her learn more about rebirth as well as  where our food comes from. I grabbed a metal bucket ~ a pretty one ~ but then I found a better flexible tub (same color),...

It’s Beginning to Sound a Lot Like Christmas

It’s Beginning to Sound a Lot Like Christmas

You may have seen last year’s picture with Santa ~ not so happy. This year, apparently, her overwhelming desire for a “hair Barbie” has changed her tune and got her sitting on Santa’s lap with a smile. (click the picture for a bigger version) She’s also learned some great songs at school, including Jingle Bells. jinglebells (click the link to listen) Please note her version of this timeless classic includes a “stupid” sleigh. Which made me laugh so hard I cried the first time she sang it. Merry...

Hanna has no love for Santa

Hanna has no love for Santa

My mom took Hanna to the annual Christmas party at Learjet. Last year she utterly refused to even think about talking with Santa. However, this year ~ she was all about it. She stood in line for 25 minutes waiting to see Santa. Practiced telling him she wants a big pony and a little pony the whole time they waited. They got the to front of the line and she said oh no way. I guess my mom was talked into sitting in Santa’s chair with her, and the elf snuck this picture. My mom wasn’t even aware there was a picture. She only found out about it when she stopped in the company store and the ladies all told her she HAD to see this amazing picture of Hanna (my mom shops there a lot and everyone knows her lol) This is my FAVORITE picture. I just love it. It is...

Easter 09 Pics and Tricks

Easter 09 Pics and Tricks

So another Easter has come and gone.  Last year was the first year we dyed Easter eggs. It was hilarious. My insanely (almost OCD) toddler who can’t have anything on her fingers flipped out every time a little dye spilled or she got some on her fingers. Those days are gone! She plopped eggs in the color bowls, rolled them around with her fingers and was covered in dye by the time we got done. I had boiled 2 dozen eggs. I thought that would be enough. Dang, 5 minutes later we were done with the eggs and she’s asking “what’s next?”. Well I got this brilliant idea to grab some pasta out of the cabinet. It’s this weird random pasta that looks like small tubes. (It must have been called for in a recipe I never made). So out comes...

Hanna’s first Christmas Tree

Hanna’s first Christmas Tree

Well, not exactly. We had a tree her first Christmas, but she probably doesn’t remember that, and last year we didn’t have a tree. This is the first tree she will remember I imagine. I wasn’t really planning on getting a tree this year either, but when we went to the Christmas party earlier this week she started hanging candy canes on the tree and had a ball. It made me realize just how much she would enjoy putting a Christmas tree up. I have started getting a little more Christmas spirit so we went out with Grandma and let Hanna pick out a tree today. We grabbed some apple cider and some Christmas music and let her go to town. She had a blast. She enjoyed hanging the ornaments on the tree, although she was a bit frustrated that Grandma was in...
