Fitness Friday is Back ~ I’m Back on Track

February 27th, 2009

As you have all heard extensively this week I finally got a Wii Fit. YAY. So this week I have been working out/playing games whatever you want to call it.

I have yet to create a “routine” as-it-were, but I have gotten on every day. My goal is to do 20 minutes. I usually get my 20 minutes in first ~ well more like 3rd thing in the morning. Right behind Hanna’s breakfast and email. I do a bunch of cardio, and then I do some strength training ~ whether it’s the strength moves or yoga and of course I’ve been playing the balance games.

I have always thought of exercise as something very  serious, and definitely NOT fun. So Wii Fit is seriously challenging some all of my beliefs around fitness and exercising. I am sure I am still taking it way too seriously but one step at a time.

I have been taking my body test every day and was on a good downward roll the first 4 days, losing a little weight every day,  then somehow gained 2 pounds on day 5. I had a crazy day that day and didn’t end up working out until late in the day and I had different clothes on than usual ~ so I just don’t know.

Today I had lost some again, but not all that I had gained yesterday. hmm. It was still a lot of fun.

With anything I think that my diet is going to be an important part of this equation. I am finding hershey kisses to be my downfall these days ~ I have no idea why I bought that big ass bag on sale for 50% off. I think once I can get back into some healthy eating habits this will take off.

For this fitness Friday I’m feeling proud I have been consistent every day this week. I’ve lost a little (which is always good) and I’m having a blast. Have most of the balance games unlocked now, and really working on unlocking faster rythm boxing (and I’ve been told to be careful what you wish for lol). All in all it’s been a great week fitness wise and I’m looking forward to another next week.

Are You Working Hard or Getting Things Done?

February 25th, 2009

It seems all the planets are aligned in this weeks message of following my inspiration and working smart not hard. Here’s the message I got from God today. Have I said lately how much I love these. Thank you Neale Donald Walsch. I appreciate you!!

On this day of your life,  Jackie, I believe God wants you to know…

….that working hard is good, but getting things done is better.

Look to see how you are spending your day.
Are you accomplishing anything?
Is it anything that matters?
You have only so much time here.
Don’t waste it.

If you are really putting in a lot of effort, but not getting much done that matters, take a look at that.

That’s all I’m saying.  Take a look.

Love, Your Friend….

Gotta love it right?  It is so interesting how these messages just show up exactly at the right time. It’s like magic ~ or the law of attraction ~ whichever you believe. :)

How Did She Learn to Say THAT???

February 24th, 2009

I’ve been noticing some very grown up things coming out of my two year old’s mouth.

Here are a few of my favorites.

“I don’t think so mom” ~ when asked to do something she really doesn’t want to do

I was just singing the Dragon Tales song playing around (dragon tales is on right now) and she looked at me, tilted her head and said “songs over mom”.

OH, and BTW ~ when did I become MOM?

Let’s see . . .

Oh, last night we went to yoga so it was a little late when we finished dinner. I was checking some email before I put her to bed and she came up to me and said ~ “it’s night time. It’s time to go to bed” Holy WHAT??

Is this my kid? The one for the first two and a half years of life refused to go to bed by herself or even think about sleeping through the night? Well ~ I’ll take that one!

Then while we’re in the car and I’m singing a song on the radio she says “NO ~ let me sing it” (which is really kinda rude) and then she DOES! She loves Pink’s song Rock Star. Quite funny.

Since we’ve been working out a little more regularly she now yells “I want to exercise!!” “I want to make my body strong!!” and when she sees me get the Wii Fit dvd out she yells “Time to Wii Fit??” and gets her yoga mat out (which is her psuedo balance board).

I just don’t know where the time has gone.

Recently she has started yelling ~ whenever we are finished with something and it’s time to go home “I can’t go home” and she seems to mean it. She gets pretty upset.

Yesterday we pulled in to Yoga and a friend was parked in front of us. She yelled “that’s Ella’s car!!” Now how did she remember this?? I only mentioned it once last week when we parked behind them.

The other day we were at the women’s fair. There was a booth selling very cute mugs for kids. They didn’t have her name on a mug (at least not spelled the way we spell it). My mom and I were talking and all the sudden she picked up the Hannah mug and yelled “Hanna”!! NO WAY!! My mom and I just looked at each other and shook our heads. Maybe some of this teaching we’re doing is sinking in.

I’m sure this post has bored you all to tears. But I really wanted some kind or record of all the cool things she’s doing now and I can’t seem to keep a baby book to save my life, so it’s landing here instead.

I’d love to hear the cool things YOUR kids have said that surprised you. Please feel free to share in the comments.

Finally Got My Wii Fit!!

February 22nd, 2009

My EFT practitioner has set me on a path to “follow my inspiration” this week. It’s an interesting task, and I’m surprised at some of the emotional charges that are coming up in this process.

In trying to follow my inspiration I managed to not do any grocery shopping yet this week ~ and had no food for dinner last night. We ran to the Walmart to grab dinner food for last night, and tonight as well as snacks for the race today.

On a whim I ran by the Wii section ~ Walmart has been out of Wii fits for as long as I have been looking (well duh) which has been a couple months now. Well to my shock and awe there were Wii Fits sitting on that shelf where there is usually a big blank space with only a price tag. :)

I scooped one up, and thought about the money for a minute and went with my inspiration to get this Wii Fit I’ve been wanting for so long.

I finally had a chance to pull it out of the box and give it a whirl this morning. OMG. How fun!! I had such a blast, and the fact that it’s a game where you are also trying to get the “best score” on some of the activities really amps up my competitive nature and keeps me working out longer than I know I would have if it was just “4 more reps!!

The exercises are really interesting and that yellow balance dot ~ yikes!! I can see he and I are going to have issues. Who knew how piss poor my balance really was? I’m not even going to tell you what the Wii fit came up with as my “wii age” but let’s just say ~ It ain’t good. :(

No worries though, it gives me something to work toward. I set up my goals for the next two months and have a goal to spend 20 minutes a day on the Wii.

I think I’m going to check out some of the routines other Wii Fit Mommies are doing at the Wii fit Mommies community. It would be kinda cool to have a sense of order around it, knowing I go from this to this to this. To pack a punch in my 20 minutes.

So anyway, I’m really excited. I finally got my Wii Fit and I’m loving it. I’d love to hear your Wii Fit stories. I’ll probably have more Wii Fit tales over at twitter if you want to follow along. I also will now have more good sutff for Fitness Fridays which I have been severely behind on. If you want to do it with me I started a Wii Fit Moms group over at twittermoms ~ would love to have you. :)

Managing the Mind Numbing Tasks

February 13th, 2009

In internet marketing there are some tasks that HAVE to be done, but they are completely mind numbing!! They are tedious and repetitive and I hate doing them, however, they are imperative to the success of my business.

It occured to me today while I was in the middle of one of these mind numbing activities that I could use this time to listen to some of the yummy stuff gathering dust on my hard drive. You know all those audio bonuses people give you all the time.

I was not really in the mood today for marketing stuff, so I went to itunes and started snooping around in the podcast section.  Most of the podcast channels are free to listen to and you can find podcasts on just about any subject you can imagine.

I just started working with this amazing EFT practitioner this week. I am really enjoying using EFT on a daily basis, so I found a couple interesting EFT podcasts, which led me to some LOA podcasts, which led me to some meditation podcasts, which led me to some positive affirmation podcasts, which led me to Oprah’s Spirit channel podcast. I subscribed to them all so I can find them again.  I find the whole itunes thing very confusing lol.

Holy Moly!! I’m already done with my mind numbing tasks for the day and I still have tons of podcasts I want to listen to!! I guess I will not dread the mind numbing tasks quite so much next time. :) In fact, I may even find myself looking forward to them.

They say your business will only grow as much as you do. Why not take some time during the mind numbing activities to grow yourself??
